Advanced Physician Training in Geriatrics
Information about this program

Geriatricians in CERA supervise 4-6 advanced trainees (Royal Australasian College of Physicians) in Geriatric Medicine. Clinical experience is offered in psychogeriatric medicine (psychogeriatric ward and Cognitive Disorders Clinic), community geriatric medicine (home visits, ACAT), geriatric rehabilitation (inpatients and outpatients), falls and fractures services (orthogeriatric liaison service, outpatients service), incontinence (outpatients service) and a busy acute geriatric medical service. We provide a wide range of training opportunities (unit meetings, journal clubs) and support for research projects undertaken by registrars. The newly opened geriatric medical precinct provides a state-of-the-art and colocalised 8 ward facility. Ongoing training is also provided for basic trainees and junior medical officers.
